A First Look at Perfect Day Mexico
Back in October, Royal Caribbean announced it was taking over the Port of Costa Maya and converting it into Perfect Day Mexico. Now, Royal Caribbean is giving us some insight on what we can expect at this new exclusive destination. This massive park will cover 2,000 acres and will be divided into seven different neighborhoods.

Loco Waterpark
Like Perfect Day at CocoCay, Perfect Day Mexico will have an extra-fee water park, Loco Waterpark. It’ll feature 30 different waterslides across five different slide towers.

The stand-out feature will be Jaguar’s Peak, the tallest waterslide tower and waterslides in North and South America. The dueling slides here will take more than two minutes to get to the bottom. Royal Caribbean is also bringing in the longest coaster waterslide in the world.

The park will also have the tallest family raft slide, which can hold four to six riders per tube. You’ll also find hydrolaunch slides that shoot you into the air, and what they’re calling the “world’s first sombero slide.”
On top of slides, it’ll also have a wave pool, slides for younger kids, and adventure pools.
Splash Cove

Splash Cove will be in the center of Perfect Day Mexico and will feature the longest lazy river in the world. It’s so big it’ll take an hour to make it all the way around, although it’ll have multiple entry/exit points along the way. Just in case you get thirsty during your long float, they’ve added float-up bars along the way and cupholders in every tube. Want a bit more thrill? They’ll have an optional section with more active rapids, twists, and turns.
In the center of the lazy river is a 100,000-square-foot pool and the largest Splashaway Bay ever.
El Hideaway

Want to get away from the kids? Then you’ll want to buy a day pass to El Hideaway, the adults-only neighborhood for guests 18 and up. Like Hideaway Beach, which debuted in 2023 on Perfect Day at CocoCay, this area will feature a zero-entry pool, swim-up bar, and DJ.
Costa Beach Club

For a more exclusive experience, you have the Costa Beach Club, Mexico’s version of Coco Beach Club. For a premium fee, you’ll have access to white sand beaches, a heated pool, upgraded loungers, and premium dining.
You can also upgrade to a private cabana with a personal cabana attendant and a dedicated pool.
Chill Beach North and South
Royal Caribbean will be working hard to transform the beaches in Costa Maya. They’re creating almost 2 miles of white sand beach. This complimentary area will have loungers and umbrellas available to all guests.
Fiesta Plaza
Guests will enter Perfect Day Mexico through Fiesta Plaza. The area will be filled with vibrant colors and local music. You’ll also see the world’s largest sombrero, which sits on top of the Tipsy Sombrero bar.
Twelve Different Dining Options and Twenty-Four Bars
Throughout Perfect Day Mexico, guests will find 12 different food venues offering regionally inspired cuisine. According to Royal Caribbean, nearly all food spots are complimentary to guests.
Guests will also find 24 different bars, including six swim-up bars.
Perfect Day Mexico Will Open Fall 2027

The new destination is scheduled to open in Fall 2027. According to Royal Caribbean, the port of Costa Maya will remain open throughout construction, with areas opening in phases. Ships from Galveston, New Orleans, and all Florida homeports will have chances to visit Perfect Day Mexico. Itineraries will become available to book this fall.
Our Take: Royal’s Biggest Theme Park Yet
Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay has become the landmark of private cruise destinations that every other cruise line has struggled to catch up to. Norwegian is upgrading its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, and Carnival is developing their own private destination, Celebration Key.
But this new development puts Royal Caribbean ahead of the curve.
Perfect Day Mexico does a few things right. It offers tons of pools and beach space available at no additional cost to guests. It also offers complimentary food at nearly all their venues AND their drink package works everywhere in the destination (hear that, Carnival?).
That being said, the renders have me worried. The place just screams tacky. From the massive, glittery jaguar on the slide tower to the giant sombrero at the entrance, it’s more “Disney” than anything seen at Epcot in Disney World. Even the title “El Hideaway,” instead of going 100% in Spanish, seems patronizing. The colors, while authentic to Mexico, are really over the top. They took a naturally inspired port like Costa Maya and did a total 180.
