A Look At Carnival’s New Dr Seuss Breakfast

Back in 2013, Carnival announced a partnership with Dr Seuss Enterprises to bring the fun of the Dr Seuss universe to their ships. One of the most popular parts of this partnership was the Green Eggs and Ham character breakfast, where kids and adults could enjoy a whimsical breakfast with special food and characters. In December, Carnival announced they will replace the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with a new Dr. Seuss-themed event called “Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast.”

Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast becomes Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast

The traditional Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast will be retired this year and replaced with a new, super-charged event. The new breakfast is a birthday party at sea, where you’ll celebrate the birthdays of Thing 1 and Thing 2. Carnival says the event will also celebrate “you,” whether your birthday is near or far. The event is filled with music, characters, and photo opportunities.

Carnival’s updated the menu for this new breakfast, bringing back many favorites and adding new dishes. You can try the new “Grinch’s Pancakes”, which are dyed green and served with a red candy heart and green whipped cream, or Who-Ville Red Velvet French Toast stuffed with strawberry jelly and peanut butter. Of course, there will be green eggs and ham, which is scrambled egg dyed green and served with ham slices on an English muffin.

How much does the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast cost?

The breakfast costs $15 for adults and $10 for children 2-11 (children under two are complimentary). This cost is up from the $10 per adult and $8 per child they used to charge for the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast. If you a Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast and your sailing transitions to the new Thing 1 & Thing 2 Breakfast, you will not have to pay more; your reservation will be rolled over.

The cost is only for the breakfast; guests are still invited to participate in the Seuss-a-Palooza Parade, Story Time, and visit Dr Seuss Bookville at no additional cost.

How do you book the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast?

You can book the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast in the Carnival Cruise Manager up to 48 hours before the start of your cruise (the same place you would book specialty dining and excursions). These events have limited space, so you really should book early if this event is a “must-do” for you and your family.

The breakfast typically takes place on a sea day morning at 8:30 am and 9:30 am. You’ll be notified of your date/time when you board the ship.
