A Look at Norwegian’s Updated Gem and Jade

A few months ago, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Jade received several upgrades during routine dry docks. These 20-year-old ships received enhancements designed to bring them more in line with the rest of the Norwegian fleet.

While the ships reentered service in mid-May, Norwegian has now provided an official look at the upgrades made onboard. Let’s take a look.

Vibe Beach Club Added

Both Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Jade saw the addition of Norwegian’s Vibe Beach Club concept.

Vibe Beach Club is an extra-fee, adults-only area available on many Norwegian ships. The new spaces on Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Jade feature 50 premium padded loungers, seven cabanas available for an additional fee, a large hot tub, and a dedicated bar.

The spaces were added to areas that previously served as general-use sun decks.

Expanded Thermal Suites

mandara spa entrance — The *Mandara Spa* received new, upgraded entrances.

The Mandara Spa thermal suites onboard both ships also received upgrades. The spaces now feature a new centralized layout, upgraded reception areas, three times as many heated tile loungers, and updated steam rooms and saunas.

IV Lounge
Four-Senses Loungers

Norwegian Jade also received new Experiential Showers that use multiple water jets and lighting effects to create a unique experience. The thermal suite also has a Plunge Pool for cold-water immersion.

Dedicated Starbucks

While every ship in the Norwegian fleet offers Starbucks beverages for an additional cost, not every ship has a stand-alone Starbucks location.

Norwegian Jade now has a licensed Starbucks store located in the ship’s main atrium on Deck 7. Guests can enjoy the same hot and cold signature beverages, seasonal options, and treats they would find at a Starbucks location on land.
