Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge: A Fun Onboard Activity on Select Norwegian Ships
Last Updated on October 22, 2024
If you’re looking for a fun activity to kill time on your next sea day, the Norwegian Prima and Viva have a fun attraction, The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge. Here, you can rent a bay and challenge your friends to a game of darts. It uses cameras to track and score you, similar to what Top Golf does for golf, providing a fun, interactive experience.
What is The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge Like?
The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge has several bays, or suites, for guests to play. The rustic wood paneling, warm lighting, and vintage-inspired decor create a nostalgic and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of traditional British taverns. A comfortable leather sofa and several stools provide a relaxed atmosphere for guests to enjoy their games.
At the end of the bay is the traditional cork dart board. The darts aren’t magnetic or electronic; they’re real darts thrown at a real dart board. Surrounding the board, you’ll see two unobstructed cameras. These are used to see where your darts hit and to score your game.
The lounge is outside, located on deck 18 near the Tee Time mini-golf. It’s covered above by the race track, so it’s ok to use in all weather.
Cost for The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge
The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge has an additional fee but the price has been changing since the ships first launched. When it first launched on the Prima, the cost was $40. In 2023, when the Viva launched, it was $20. On my sailing on the Viva in June 2024, the cost was $5.
The cost is for a single bay, not per person, and gives you 50 minutes of play. Each bay can accommodate up to 6 people. The cost will be charged to one person’s onboard account.
How to Play Darts
For The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge, you don’t have to worry about scheduling months or days ahead of time. You just show up at the activities desk on the port side of Deck 18. If one of the bays isn’t available, you can reserve a future slot.
Tip: If you’re playing darts, get your drinks before you arrive so you don’t waste any time. The Waves Pool Bar is the closest full bar, but at the end of the Surfside Cafe is a small counter with a makeshift bar. It’s easy to miss, but you can also get basic beers and cocktails here.
When it’s your time to play, the attendant will take someone’s room key to pay the fee, bring you to your bay, and set you up. You have a variety of different types of games to choose from using the tablet. You have 50 minutes in the bay, so you can usually squeeze in a few different games depending on how many people you’re playing with.
My Experience Playing Darts on a Cruise Ship
I’ve tried The Bull’s Eye Dart Lounge three times: once on the Prima and twice on the Viva. Overall, it was a lot of fun. Normally, I do not pay additional fees for onboard attractions, but the $5 cost was so reasonable. I loved the ambiance of the space, with the distinguished feeling in the suites where they almost feel like a movie set of a British Pub. I also loved that you could enjoy the beautiful ocean views but were protected from the direct sun. The space always had a great breeze because of how the air flowed through from the speedway to the back of the ship.
It would have been nice if Norwegian would open it up at night. Darts is an excellent pub activity, and if they used it as such, it’d provide great evening entertainment on a ship that struggles in that aspect (read more about that here).
