Carnival Splendor Got Some Upgrades
Carnival Splendor is heading to Sydney after a dry dock to get some new enhancements. Carnival Splendor has always been an original ship. The ship is the only one in the Splendor Class, as it was originally supposed to be for Costa Cruises. Because of that, it’s different from the rest of the Carnival fleet. These changes continue the uniqueness of the ship.
Splendor’s New Look
While the Splendor was in dry dock, it received Carnival’s new red, white, and blue livery design. In addition, the ship received a Southern Cross on the side, a signature element of P&O Cruises Australia, which will soon join Carnival.
New Mad Sizzle Restaurant
Mad Sizzle is a new dining option available on Deck 9. This quick-service restaurant has a variety of kababs, satays, and spit-roasted meats to choose from. It’s similar in theme to the Mad Sizzle stall at Street Eats on Excel-class ships. Unfortunately, according to the pictures provided by Carnival, this is an additional cost. Mad Sizzle takes over the space previously used for Masala Tiger near the aft Serenity Deck.
Masala Tiger Gets Bigger
Carnival Splendor is the only ship in the Carnival fleet with a dedicated Indian restaurant. Masala Tiger offers authentic Indian dishes cooked in a traditional clay oven. Masala Tiger moved up one level to Deck 10 where it now has a larger setup. The lunch offering will remain free, but they will start charging a la carte pricing for dinner options.
Refreshed Kids Areas
The Splendor’s kid-friendly attractions have also been upgraded. The mini-golf course on Deck 14 has been refreshed, and the Waterworks Splash area has been revamped. Splashy Cove, an additional splash area for kids, has also been refurbished. The kids clubs, Camp Ocean and Club O2, added new video gaming areas as well.
Updated Staterooms and Public Areas
The ship’s cabins have been upgraded, with balconies getting full refurbishments and cabins getting new amenities, including bedside USB charging. The gym and Thalasso Therapy pool in the Cloud 9 Spa have also been refreshed.
New Production Show “Dear Future Husband”
The Carnival Splendor also features the Production Show “Dear Future Husband,” a new show that debuted on the Carnival Jubilee. The musical review follows a bride and groom-to-be as they board a Carnival ship with their friends for a wedding adventure.
Increased Focus on Australia
Splendor’s refurbishment shows Carnival’s increased focus on Australia. Carnival Luminosa will join the Splendor in October for seasonal sailings. Later in the year, P&O Cruises Australia will be absorbed into the Carnival brand, bringing two ships, the Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter.
