Celebrity Xcite Will Be The 6th Edge Class Ship

Today, the first steel for Celebrity’s sixth Edge Class ship was cut at Chantiers de l’Atlantique. During the ceremony, Celebrity Cruises revealed the name of its next ship, the Celebrity Xcite. The ship is scheduled to debut in 2028.

Xcite Will Be Very Much Like the Celebrity Xcel

While Celebrity has offered very little information about the Celebrity Xcite so far, it is expected to be very similar to its predecessor, the Celebrity Xcel. In fact, the internal codename used in earnings calls and travel partner briefings was “Xcel 2.”

The Celebrity Xcel did not feature any major structural changes compared to earlier Edge Class ships, but Celebrity optimized the use of many onboard spaces. These enhancements are expected to carry over to the Xcite.

The Bazaar replaces Eden on the new Celebrity Xcel and, likely, the Xcite.

Among the key updates introduced on Xcel:

  • Eden was transformed into The Bazaar, featuring two new restaurants, Mosaic and Spice.
  • Rooftop Grill became Bora, a Mediterranean-inspired outdoor restaurant.
  • The upper level of The Club was converted into Attic at The Club, a social space with games and pool tables.
  • The pool deck was redesigned as the Celebrity Pool Club, adding more shaded areas and a new Pool Valet service.
  • A new Celebrity Flagship Store debuted, combining a small museum highlighting the line’s history with a retail boutique for branded merchandise.
  • The spa received a full makeover, adding the H2O experience and an outdoor Vitamin D Deck in front of the gym.

These refinements built upon the earlier improvements made to the Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Ascent, such as infinity pools on the rooftop terrace, an expanded main pool area, a more open Grand Plaza with a centrally located bar, and the addition of the World Class Bar.

With the Xcite expected to follow closely in Xcel’s footsteps, fans can anticipate another elegant and thoughtfully designed ship that continues Celebrity’s evolution of the Edge Class. It’s nothing game-changing, but the continued improvement of the Edge platform.
