The Carnival Elation was built in 1998. It was renovated in 2020. It's 7 years newer than the Paradise, which was built in 1991 and renovated in 2026. The Paradise previously sailed under two different names, the Costa Classica and Grand Classica, before being purchased by Margaritaville to launch their new cruise line.
The Elation is considered a small ship. Coming in at 855 feet long and 103 feet wide, it's roughly the length of 2.4 football fields, as wide as 1.9 tractor-trailers, and the same height as a 10-story building. Compared to the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, the Elation is 33% larger in terms of overall tons.

Food is a big part of any cruise, and the ship you choose can make a huge difference in your food experience.
The Elation has eleven different dining options like Blue Iguana Cantina, Carnival Deli, and Pizza Pirate. Of those options, twelve are complimentary, or included with your cruise fare. The other four options have an additional fee.
The Paradise has two fewer dining venues. Some of its popular venues are Mexican Cutie Cantina, JWB Prime Steakhouse, and Cheeseburger in Paradise Burger Bar. Seven of these restaurants are complimentary and the other two have an additional fee.
If you like having a variety of places to eat, the Elation might be a better choice. It has 22% more dining options than the Paradise.
If you're looking to avoid extra money while on board, the Paradise might be a better choice than the Elation. More of the dining options are included in the base cruise fare, potentially saving you money.

The Carnival Elation has 3 more bars than the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. The Elation has 10 bars like Alchemy Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar and Limelight Lounge. On Paradise, you can grab a drink at 7 different bars such as 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar and Grill, Euphoria and Hemisphere Nightclub.
