Liberty of the Seas Finally Gets Coke Freestyle Machines
Soda fans rejoice. After years of waiting, Liberty of the Seas is finally joining most of her Royal Caribbean fleetmates in offering Coke Freestyle machines. For loyal guests, this upgrade is more than just a new way to pour a drink. It is a long-requested improvement that brings added convenience, more beverage choices, and a bit of fun to the soda experience onboard.

Coke Freestyle Machines on Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean was the first cruise line to implement Coke Freestyle machines when they were added to the Majesty of the Seas in 2012. These sleek, touchscreen machines allow guests to make over 100 different flavor combinations, a huge increase over the standard six options found on a normal soda machine. The machines also offered many new beverage options with the soda package, including Dr Pepper, Diet Barq’s, Vitaminwater, and Minute Maid.

Royal Caribbean gives guests with the soda or beverage package a refillable tumbler or cup to use at the machines. An RFID chip is built into the cup that is read by the machine, allowing guests to get any beverage they’d like. The tag has a date and expires after the sailing. It makes getting soda throughout the ship easier, especially in the Windjammer when the bar could be overwhelmed during busy times. Guests who did not want to walk to a machine could still order a standard soda (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, etc.) from any bar onboard the ship.
Since then, Coke Freestyle machines have been added to almost every ship in the fleet, with one of the biggest holdouts being Liberty of the Seas.
Liberty of the Seas Coke Freestyle Machines
Up until this week, the only way to get soda on Liberty of the Seas was to go to a bar, something some parents did not love for their children. On Liberty of the Seas, most bars did not have soda guns, so drinks would be poured from cans or, more often, from a room-temperature two-liter bottle of soda.
More frustratingly, Royal Caribbean charged the same amount for the soda package on Liberty of the Seas as on ships with Coke Freestyle machines. Guests onboard would still get a cup, but it could not be automatically filled anywhere. In addition, many special options, such as zero-sugar, caffeine-free, and non-carbonated drinks, were not available.
Now, Liberty of the Seas has two Coke Freestyle machines installed, with more on the way. Currently, there are two machines near Sorrento’s, and work is being done to add more machines in the Windjammer as well.

More Upgrades Coming to Liberty of the Seas
It is surprising to see the machines being installed on Liberty of the Seas because the ship is due for a significant overhaul in April 2026. During this time, the ship will be amplified and get Royal Caribbean favorites like The Lime & Coconut Bar, Izumi Teppanyaki, El Loco Fresh, and a dedicated Starbucks.
Remaining Coke Freestyle Holdouts
Still, not every Royal Caribbean ship has Coke Freestyle machines. Here are the ships that still do not have them onboard.
- Brilliance of the Seas
- Radiance of the Seas
- Serenade of the Seas
- Spectrum of the Seas
- Vision of the Seas
