Margaritaville at Sea Launches Dedicated Tattoo Studio on Islander
Souvenir t-shirts fade, photos get buried in your phone, and keycards usually end up in a junk drawer. For cruisers looking for a lasting way to mark their vacation, Margaritaville at Sea has you covered. Guests can now get a tattoo at sea in a brand-new dedicated parlor aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander.
Permanent Reminder Tattoo Parlor on the Islander

The Islander has opened its own tattoo space called Permanent Reminder. The name comes straight from Jimmy Buffett’s 1977 song “Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Feeling.”
Located on Deck 3 near the photo gallery, the parlor makes booking easier than ever. No more wandering through the spa or searching for the right desk. This spot is designed just for tattoos. Prices start at $75, but most guests spend between $200 and $400 depending on size and design.
Tip: Appointments go fast. If you are serious about getting a tattoo onboard, head to Permanent Reminder as soon as you board on Day 1.
Tattoo artists have flash sheets with pre-designed tattoos to choose from, or you can ask for something custom (for an additional price). After you get your tattoo, the artist will cover it with SecondSkin, which is a waterproof tattoo bandage (although the manufacturer discourages swimming with it).

From the Spa to Its Own Space
Tattoos are not brand-new to Margaritaville at Sea, but the Islander is the first in the fleet to give them their own home. Previously, tattoos were tucked into the spa, sharing space with massages, facials, and even seaweed wraps. Now, the dedicated location makes it easier to find an artist and get inked without interrupting the spa vibe.
On the line’s other ship, the Paradise, tattoos are still offered within the spa. Whether that ship will get its own Permanent Reminder in the future remains to be seen.
Not the Only Tattoos at Sea
Margaritaville at Sea is not alone in offering tattoos. Virgin Voyages shook up the cruise industry when it debuted in 2020 with Squid Ink, the first-ever tattoo parlor at sea. Many assumed it was just a passing fad, but nearly constant bookings proved otherwise. Today, tattoo parlors at sea are one of the more surprising success stories in cruise line add-ons.
