MSC Seascape’s Entertainment Gets a Texas Twist

MSC Cruises is getting ready to bring a little Texas flair to the MSC Seascape when the ship arrives in Galveston this November. The line announced a slate of new entertainment and onboard events designed to mix the Lone Star State’s country culture with the Caribbean.

A Texan Welcome Onboard

When MSC Seascape starts sailing 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston on November 9, 2025, guests will be greeted with a distinctly regional vibe. To help with this transition, the ship will feature a new U.S.-based cruise director, Ryan Rose, who brings a Southern background and bold personality to the role.

Texas-Inspired Entertainment Highlights

The Uptown Lounge will feature high-energy dueling piano shows.

MSC is weaving in touches of Texas throughout the ship’s entertainment. Guests can expect:

  • The Lone Star Band – A resident country music group performing favorites from across the genre.
  • Dueling Pianos at Uptown Lounge – A bespoke, high-energy piano showdown.
  • Steel Drum Vibes – A Caribbean steel drum musician at the pool, plus lessons for guests.
  • Country Line Dance Classes – Learn Texas-style steps in group sessions.
  • Sports on the Big Screen – US and Texas games shown throughout the ship.
  • The Big Texas Sailaway Party – A send-off celebration with live music and dancing each Sunday.
  • Street Theater Pop-ups – Surprise performances with Texas-inspired themes.
  • Comedy Nights – U.S.-based comedians performing in the Forward Theatre.

This lineup is designed to create a home-away-from-home for Texas cruisers while still keeping the international flair MSC is known for.

Forward Theatre Productions

In addition to the new Texan programming, the Forward Theatre will still host six large-scale productions each week, giving guests something different to experience every evening. These are the same shows that have been on board since the ship launched in 2022.

  • “Imaginocean” – An ocean-themed show with aerial acts, puppetry, and couture costumes inspired by sea life.
  • “Dreamscape” – A fantasy world brought to life through circus performers, dancers, singers, and immersive video backdrops.
  • “In Concert” – Rock classics performed with concert-style lighting and choreography.
  • “Premiere” – A celebration of movie history, with iconic songs, costumes, and backdrops.
  • “Shall We Dance” – A showcase of dance styles from ballroom to Latin with impressive artistry.
  • “Love Blooms” – A colorful garden fantasy featuring oversized costumes and circus artists.

Le Cabaret Rouge

At the aft of the ship, Le Cabaret Rouge will still feature a rotating schedule of variety acts, live music, and late-night parties. Its cabaret-style atmosphere offers a more intimate but equally high-energy experience compared to the main theater (seating only 400 or so people).

Our Take: Bringing More Appeal to the Texas Market

MSC has been working to grow its US presence, and its increased focus on Galveston is the latest step in that strategy. By infusing MSC Seascape with regionally inspired entertainment like country bands, line dancing, and sports broadcasts, the line is making an effort to meet Texas cruisers where they are. Carnival took a similar direction when launching its newest ship, the Carnival Jubilee, going as far as putting a Texas Star on the hull.

While it will go a long way to making the ships more appealing to locals, those who aren’t interested in country/Texas culture may now choose to avoid Galveston sailings. The Texas focus is also a odd fit for the ship with already has a New York-theme.
