Norwegian Loyalty Status Honored Across All 3 Brands

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings just announced a change to their loyalty program. But don’t worry, it’s not a disaster like Carnival’s. Instead, they’re rewarding brand loyalty by honoring status across all three brands with their new Loyalty Status Honoring Program.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is the parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Previously, status earned on one cruise line would not carry over, so there was no incentive for long-time Norwegian cruisers to try Oceania or Regent Seven Seas.

“We want our guests to feel rewarded whenever they choose to sail within our family of award-winning cruise brands,” said Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “With the new Loyalty Status Honoring Program, our guests can experience more of what makes each brand special, while still enjoying the loyalty recognition they’ve worked hard to achieve.”

Starting with sailings departing on October 15, 2025, members of the Latitudes Rewards, Oceania Club, and the Seven Seas Society will have their status matched to the closest tier when sailing on one of the lines.

Points Don’t Accumulate Between Lines

Unfortunately, points will still be accrued separately, similar to how Royal Caribbean and Celebrity’s loyalty programs work. That means a sailing on Oceania won’t help increase your tier in Norwegian’s Latitudes program, but you’ll at least get the benefits.

If you’re enrolled in two or more of the programs, they will honor the highest level when sailing, but the points will still accumulate under the program for the ship you’re on. They give this example:

  • If someone is a member of both Norwegian and Regent and is sailing with Norwegian but has a higher status with Regent, we will honor the higher status on Norwegian based on their Regent tier. If their status is higher with Norwegian, they will sail as usual under their Norwegian status. In either case, points will accrue with Norwegian because they are sailing with Norwegian. 

How to Request Status

To request loyalty status honoring, contact the cruise line you’re sailing with at least 10 days prior to departure: 

Include the following information in your email: 

  • Reservation number and sail date  
  • Ship name and brand of future sailing 
  • NCLH loyalty program numbers (all enrolled programs) 
  • Full name, date of birth, email address, and phone number 

My Take: A Smart Move to Increase Brand Experimentation

While loyalty programs are great at keeping cruisers loyal to a specific line, they often discourage trying a parent company’s other brands. As cruisers age and their tastes evolve, they may want to explore more high-end lines or different styles of cruising. But with the way loyalty programs were structured, many looked at all possible options rather than staying within the same family of cruise lines.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have offered reciprocal status for a while now, and that motivated me to try Celebrity Cruises earlier this year. Now, Norwegian is rolling out a similar program. It’s disappointing that points don’t accumulate between lines, but that’s something they may consider in the future.

It’s also worth noting that Carnival’s newest rewards program takes the opposite approach. There’s no incentive for guests to try sister lines like Princess Cruises or Holland America Line. That means guests who feel Carnival’s cutbacks are too much may just as easily look at competitors like Virgin Voyages and Celebrity Cruises.
