Norwegian Removes Jersey Boys from the Bliss
Broadway shows used to be a staple in Norwegian Cruise Line’s entertainment program, offering guests full-scale productions at sea. In recent years, however, Norwegian has cut back on these shows in favor of cheaper, in-house productions. Now, another Broadway show is coming to an end.
Norwegian Bliss Says “Goodbye” to Jersey Boys
Jersey Boys originally debuted on Norwegian Bliss when the ship first sailed in 2018. The show brought the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to life. This Tony Award-winning musical followed the journey of four blue-collar kids who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. With classic hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Sherry,” Jersey Boys was a jukebox musical with a historical narrative that showcased the ups and downs of fame.
But Jersey Boys will walk (like a man) into the sunset after a seven-year run aboard Norwegian Bliss. Guests on an upcoming voyage recently received an email about the future of the production.
As we prepare for this upcoming voyage, we want to share a quick update about our entertainment lineup. ‘Jersey Boys’ will be concluding its run in the Bliss Theatre. While we know this change may come as a disappointment, we are refreshing our offerings with a rotating collection of performers chosen to surprise, delight, and keep your evenings just as memorable, including comedians, magicians, jugglers and other specialty acts who each bring their own spark to the stage.”
Bliss Will Ultimately Replace the Show with Choir of Man
Ultimately, the show will be replaced by Choir of Man, the popular production already onboard Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Encore. The show is scheduled to debut on Norwegian Bliss starting with the March 5 sailing.
Choir of Man combines live music, dance, and foot-stomping fun. Set in a British pub, the show features a group of nine talented performers who deliver an energetic mix of pop songs, folk tunes, and pub anthems. With hits like “Some Nights,” “500 Miles,” and “Under the Bridge,” the production is a celebration of camaraderie, music, and the joy of being together. Its casual atmosphere and interactive nature have made it a favorite among many guests.
Guests sailing on Norwegian Bliss between February 15 and March 5 will instead see guest performers as part of the ship’s entertainment lineup.
Beetlejuice Is the One Remaining Broadway Show on Norwegian
With Jersey Boys meeting the same fate as Kinky Boots and Six on other Norwegian ships, there is now only one true Broadway production left in the fleet: Beetlejuice onboard Norwegian Viva. There has been no indication of when the license for Beetlejuice will expire, but it appears likely that the show will be replaced once that agreement ends.
