Breaking Down Norwegian’s 2027 Cruises: Something for Everyone

Norwegian Cruise Line has officially released its spring and summer 2027 schedule, opening over 500 itineraries across 20 ships. The deployment spans nearly 30 homeports worldwide and places an emphasis on destination-rich itineraries, private island enhancements, and diverse sailing lengths. There’s something for everyone, from short Caribbean getaways to exotic, destination-heavy itineraries.

Here’s a breakdown of the key offerings by ship class and region.

Short Caribbean and Bahamas Cruises From Florida

Ships: Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Escape

Itineraries: 3- to 5-day round-trip from Miami and Port Canaveral

While Norwegian has traditionally avoided short sailings, they’ve proven incredibly popular for competitor cruise lines. Because of that, two Breakaway Class ships will offer 3-5 night Caribbean sailings from Florida. The Getaway will sail from Miami, and the Escape will sail from Port Canaveral (Orlando).

These sailings will include visits to Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye, NCL’s private destinations in the Bahamas and Belize, respectively. Here, guests can take advantage of the upgrades happening late this year, like a pier that “ensures guaranteed access”, a tram system, heated pool, an adults-only cabana area, and a new family zone called Horizon Park.

7-Day Caribbean Cruises With Norwegian’s Newest Ships

Ships: Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Viva

Itineraries: 7-day sailings from Miami and Port Canaveral

For travelers looking for a full week in the tropics, you can sail aboard Norwegian’s newest ships.

Norwegian Aqua will feature Sunday departures from both Miami and Port Canaveral and make debut calls to Falmouth (Jamaica) and George Town (Cayman Islands).

Norwegian Viva will sail from Miami and offer Caribbean itineraries in April and May before repositioning to Europe for the summer.

Bermuda Cruises From the Northeast

Ships: Norwegian Luna, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Pearl

Itineraries: 5- to 7-day sailings from New York, Boston, and Philadelphia

Bermuda continues to be a highlight of NCL’s summer sailings, particularly appealing to those on the East Coast. All Bermuda sailings will include overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard, which gives them an extended chance to explore this beautiful island.

Norwegian Luna makes its New York debut in April 2027 and will sail short Bermuda itineraries. Norwegian Breakaway returns to Boston, combining Bermuda with a stop in Halifax, Canada.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Pearl extends its Philadelphia season for its third season, offering seven-day sailings from April through early September.

Canada & New England Fall Foliage Cruises

Ships: Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Pearl

Itineraries: 7-day itineraries from late August to October

Both Breakaway and Pearl will transition to Canada & New England sailings in late summer from Boston and Philadelphia, respectively. These cruises include ports like Charlottetown and Quebec City, offering a front-row seat to New England’s colorful autumn landscapes.

Europe: Port-Intensive Cruises and New Baltic Routes

Prima Class Ships: Norwegian Prima, Norwegian Viva

Other Ships: Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Dawn

NCL will position eight ships in Europe, ranging from the stunning Prima Class to older and smaller ships that can visit unique destinations. These itineraries are port-intensive, mostly seven-day cruises with late-night stays and overnights.

Prima and Viva lead the way with 9- to 11-day Mediterranean and Northern Europe sailings. Prima will offer open-jaw (one-way) voyages between Reykjavik and Southampton, plus new Baltic sailings with maiden calls in Riga and Helsinki. Viva will sail from multiple European ports, including Istanbul and Ravenna, calling on the Greek Isles and the Western Mediterranean.

Midsize ships like Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Jewel focus on less-traveled ports in the Adriatic and Baltics, including Klaipeda (Lithuania), Corfu (Greece), and Gdynia (Poland). This positioning is ideal for repeat cruisers looking to check off less mainstream cities.

Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Dawn will return to familiar waters, offering seven-day Western Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Rome, and open-jaw trips between Lisbon and Barcelona.

Alaska Cruises On Breakaway Plus Class

Ships: Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Jade

Itineraries: 7- to 10-day sailings from Seattle, Vancouver, and Whittier

NCL continues to focus on summer sailings in Alaska with a trio of Breakaway Plus-class ships. In their press release, Norwegian says these ships “were custom-built for the destination,” although we know the Joy was originally built for the Chinese market. Even with that, it’s true that the ships feature expansive outdoor observation areas on the Waterfront and the stunning, although recently downsized, forward-facing Observation Lounge.

The core Alaska season runs from April through September, with Encore, Bliss, and Joy sailing mostly seven-day routes from Seattle. Joy will also offer longer 9- and 10-day options during shoulder season months.

Norwegian will also position a smaller Gem Class ship in Alaska. The Norwegian Jade will operate one-way seven-day cruises between Whittier and Vancouver, all of which include scenic cruising days in either Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier. Cruisetour packages are also available for deeper land-based exploration into Denali and beyond.

Longer, Exotic Sailings in the South Pacific

Ship: Norwegian Spirit

Itineraries: 11- to 13-day sailings across Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, and Hawaii

After wrapping up its winter season in Australia and New Zealand, Norwegian Spirit will remain in the South Pacific through the end of 2027. These open-jaw voyages, ranging from 11 to 13 days, connect ports in Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia, and the Cook Islands.

The ship will operate from several ports, including Sydney, Lautoka (Fiji), Papeete (Tahiti), and Honolulu. Itineraries are heavy on sea days and exotic locales, catering to more seasoned cruisers seeking new destinations.

Our Take: Something for Everyone

What stands out about Norwegian’s new itineraries is that there truly is something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing 5-day beach escape or a 7-day journey through new and exciting ports, there’s an option that fits.

One notable trend this season is how Norwegian’s newest ships aren’t confined to standard Caribbean routes. Unlike Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or Celebrity, whose latest and greatest vessels tend to stick to traditional Caribbean sailings, Norwegian is deploying some of its newest ships on fresh and unique itineraries. (An exception is Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, which will spend one season in the Mediterranean.)

In 2027, Norwegian will also debut its fifth Prima Class ship. While details are limited, we know it will be approximately 10 percent larger than Aqua and Luna, which may offer even more options for diverse itineraries.
